Graham goes to Houston in 4th Round

Stay connected for news and updates

The Houston Texans selected tight end Garrett Graham with the No. 118 overall pick in the 4th round.

Graham will join former UW tight end Owen Daniels in Houston. Daniels was also a 4th round pick (98th overall in 2006) and is a staple in the Texans offense. He has caught 207 passes and 15 touchdowns in four NFL seasons before tearing his right ACL in week eight last season.

This is an interesting move by Houston because Daniels has wanted a long-term contract from the Texans for a long time now and while he expressed hope of that happening last month, drafting Graham suggests Houston might be preparing for life without Daniels.

The two tight ends are no strangers. Graham's first season at Wisconsin was Daniels' last and Graham has long considered Daniels a mentor during his time at Wisconsin.

Knowing both guys, I sincerely doubt Daniels' contract status will interfere with their relationship in Houston. Graham has to be estatic that he will get the opportunity to learn from a friend and mentor. I couldn't imagine a better situation for him.
