In the women's game

Vermont’s coach looks like Amy Poehler after a rough night.

Badgers down by 6 with a minute left.

I’m thinking that the Badgers need to play their best game of the season today. I bet Bo has them ready.

by rahchgo on Mar 21, 2010 1:28 PM CDT via mobile reply actions

hopefully bo has a better coaching performance than

Thad Matta. Why is Evan Turner playing point guard?

by pjpaulus on Mar 21, 2010 1:36 PM CDT reply actions

They look tired early, their depth was going to be a problem coming into the tournament, especially if there in close games. As for Turner at the point, i think its a matchup thing.

by wisco87 on Mar 21, 2010 1:40 PM CDT up reply actions

Turner has played the point since he came back from injury

That’s the sole reason why they rebounded from a 1-3 start and won the Big Ten

Ok Cornell started, now wisconsin needs to start

by wisco87 on Mar 21, 2010 1:54 PM CDT up reply actions

Supposedly Cornell's defense is their weakness

So the fact that we haven’t scored yet worries me.

Subs early

Nankevil and hughes earn some bench time early

by wisco87 on Mar 21, 2010 1:58 PM CDT reply actions

Cornell isn't missing

And when they finally do, they always get the offensive board. Get the rebounds guys!

by Adam Tupitza on Mar 21, 2010 2:03 PM CDT reply actions

Cornell

shooting what 140% coming into todays game?

Rough Rebounds

Looks like the refs letting Cornell, do whate’er they want on the boards.

by Tim V on Mar 21, 2010 2:06 PM CDT reply actions

2 soft fouls on Wisconsin

Cornell allowed to bang on the boards. Gonna be a long day…

Finally a foul on the overaggressive Cornell rebounder.

And the Cornell player is incredulous. Just because you are an Ivy League team doesn’t mean you don’t commit fouls…

Let hope

jon got some rest, because he will have to play all 40 today.

Trevon

is doing a great job of not forcing it today. Cornell’s trying to key in on him so he’s doing a good job of passing the ball after getting in the lane.

by Adam Tupitza on Mar 21, 2010 2:23 PM CDT reply actions

We miss layups

they hit fade-away 3s with 1 second on the shot clock. UGH.

how is their no foul on Cornell

barrell over multiple badgers and no call

These refs should be fired at halftime.

Cornell is a good team

But sorry Bo, your team didn’t look ready to play.

by Rusty23 on Mar 21, 2010 2:40 PM CDT reply actions

Badgers need to get dirty in the second half

by pjpaulus on Mar 21, 2010 2:40 PM CDT reply actions

I agree

Gotta play a lot tougher. They aren’t calling it on Cornell.

by Rusty23 on Mar 21, 2010 2:41 PM CDT up reply actions

Problem is that no one on the team brings that rough and tough attitude. they need a charles oakley player

by pjpaulus on Mar 21, 2010 2:51 PM CDT up reply actions

This game is just painful.

It’s like watching someone blatantly cheating and not being able to call them on it. They’re grabbing, pulling, and holding under every board, and we’re the ones getting called for everything. The Badgers haven’t gotten out of their own way with some of the turnovers and missed layups, but this is just ridiculous.

USG

by Ben Buchanan on Mar 21, 2010 2:41 PM CDT reply actions

All that banging on the rebounds

5 turnovers from him in this game….

by wisco87 on Mar 21, 2010 3:01 PM CDT up reply actions

43 points for Cornell at half. 49 points for Wofford all game on Friday. Think we can hold them to 6 in the 2nd half?

by Adam Tupitza on Mar 21, 2010 2:44 PM CDT reply actions

That stat scares me the most, that puts Cornell above there average scoring on the year. Badgers want this game under 65 points.

by wisco87 on Mar 21, 2010 2:48 PM CDT up reply actions

Wow, this halftime show is a joke.

“Jon Leuer hasn’t been able to get any rhythm going offensively!”

14 points on 5-5 shooting

“It’s a pleasure to watch Cornell on the offensive end! Wisconsin looks confused defensively, giving up all kinds of open shots”

I just watched them hit covered 3 after covered 3, putting difficult floaters in over the tips of Leuer’s fingers…

USG

by Ben Buchanan on Mar 21, 2010 2:44 PM CDT reply actions

Well..the Badgers do look confused on D at times. I think Jon has his rhythm, but didn’t get many touches the last 8 mins or so of the half, same goes for Jbo who hit a few shots, then not sure if he shot again.

by wisco87 on Mar 21, 2010 2:47 PM CDT up reply actions

Maybe Bo can find that damn hot tub time machine and find the Badgers from a month ago when they were rolling, and playing with confidence.

by wisco87 on Mar 21, 2010 2:50 PM CDT reply actions

I can’t figure out why we look like we take some random mid season game against Indiana about 70X more seriously than a tournament game? Why do we do this? Plodding around like anemic dinosaurs out there….

by Mark Vershaw's Hair Gel on Mar 21, 2010 2:53 PM CDT reply actions

because without Leuer the team just isn’t that good

by pjpaulus on Mar 21, 2010 2:55 PM CDT up reply actions

I dont know about that. This team has got more guys on it that are capable of being (and actually have been) the leading scorer in a game than any other badger team in recent memory.

by Mark Vershaw's Hair Gel on Mar 21, 2010 2:58 PM CDT up reply actions

This team played well without Jon Leuer earlier this year.

by wisco87 on Mar 21, 2010 2:59 PM CDT up reply actions

I doubt there not taking this game seriously. I think they lost some confidence after the poor shooting in Illinois, and have fallen into a slump where there vulnerable and start playing there games not too lose instead of trying to win which is not a good approach to a tournament game against a hot shooting cinderella team.

by wisco87 on Mar 21, 2010 2:58 PM CDT up reply actions

It is highly unlikely that they are actually not taking this game seriously, but what I can’t figure out is why it looks so much like that. Failing box out, missing layups, poor passes into traffic, failing to go TO the ball when catching a pass. Its just poor fundamentals, and when a team is shooting very well on top of it, we’re really going to have trouble pulling off a win

by Mark Vershaw's Hair Gel on Mar 21, 2010 3:01 PM CDT up reply actions

Maybe it's a product of Bo's even-keeled approach?

He could turn the pressure up/create a sense of urgency when we hit tourney time?

funny you mention that...

Had a guard out of Madison that was going to the UW, but changed his mind this year- lots of controversy-Got a 4 star center (not too sure about) but a good, high scoring guard also from WIsconsin. We will miss the clutch of Hughes (although not today) Jon gasser is his name he will be a shooter to replace Jbo in a few years.

by wisco87 on Mar 21, 2010 3:47 PM CDT up reply actions

Not to nitpick, but it’s Josh Gasser

by Adam Tupitza on Mar 21, 2010 4:33 PM CDT up reply actions

oops

Your right, sorry about that. Have you seen him play at all?

by wisco87 on Mar 21, 2010 4:35 PM CDT up reply actions

I was really starting to like him late last year and this year, but your right at times he can be hard to watch. He can make some amazing plays, then lay a dud. Hughes carried us through quite a few games so I’ll give him credit tough way to end his career.

by wisco87 on Mar 21, 2010 6:33 PM CDT up reply actions

who do the badgers have at guard/small forward to replace them with?

by pjpaulus on Mar 21, 2010 3:46 PM CDT up reply actions

was that Bohannon’s first dunk?!?!

by Mark Vershaw's Hair Gel on Mar 21, 2010 3:42 PM CDT reply actions

He attempted one earlier this year or least year and butchered it, so it was good to see him make it.

All we can hope for now

is that we face Cornell in hockey and smack them around. There’s actually a decent shot that we could face them in a Frozen Four semifinal.

Oh...

…. a painful out in the second round? Sounds like Bo Ryan’s Badgers to me.

I love Bo, but he’s spoiled me, and I’m tired of losing in the 2nd round of the NCAA’s. Tough draw or not, I want to see them make the Sweet 16 in back to back years.

What begins in fear usually ends in folly.
