Welcome into our live game thread for Wisconsin's opening round NCAA Tournament game against Wofford. We hope you will follow along with us all day, whether you are at work or managed to get the day off.

The game starts at approximately 1:50 CT, depending on how long the Temple-Cornell game goes. And speaking of that game, I will be right here watching it and commenting a little bit on the two teams Wisconsin could play Sunday.

Feel free to leave your comments and predictions below!

I wasn't buying into the hype of Cornell, but I wasn't denying it either.

I try not to make stong comments on teams I haven’t seen before. But now I have seen Cornell play for 9 minutes and this is a good basketball team. Foote is a very impressive big man.

Cornell's cutting and passing is ridiculously good

This is beautiful basketball to watch.

Man, Cornell has the Minnesota connection too

Ryan Wittman, the Big Red’s leading scorer, is from Eden Prairie, Minn.

Records in Wisconsin's favor:

Bo Ryan is 7-1 in opening round games with the only loss coming against No. 8 Arizona in 2006.

Ryan is also 10-2 against lower seeded opponents in the tournament with the two losses coming against No. 7 UNLV in 2007 and No. 10 Davidson in 2008.

Simpson does Horizon and MAC

He’s the only one to ref a Wisconsin game this year. Guess which one…

Minnesota/Temple

I kind of expected both of them to keep their games close, if not win

by wiarchaeologist on Mar 19, 2010 1:08 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah I picked both to win.

I’ve gotten a lot of 1st round games wrong, but only have 2 Sweet 16 teams out.

Hockey

Don’t forget the UW men’s hockey team plays St. Cloud St in the WCHA semis at 2 p.m. on FSN. Try to get 2 TVs going if you can.

Against Cornell

Bo Ryan might have to pull a Steimsma vs. UNC and play Berggren against Foote.

Who knows if Wofford will hold their own today

But at the very least, I think their logo is pretty awesome.

Where has that been all season?

There was no one ready to defend that.

Scouting reports seem to be accurate

Wofford looks very similar to Wisconsin in style, but the Badgers are bigger and better.

No more threes, please

I’m getting tired of hearing the rim on all of these shots.

Bohannon just passed up a wide open three.

Not a good sign.

Then he gave up that weak offensive rebound.

by Adam Hoge on Mar 19, 2010 2:45 PM CDT reply actions

Well, another low-scoring half

Provided the Badgers advance, they’re going to need better shooting.

by wallrock on Mar 19, 2010 2:53 PM CDT reply actions

yeah- our offense seems stagnet at times late in the 2nd half. Are playing tight D on J-bo? Only had two shots and no 3pt attempts.

by wisco87 on Mar 19, 2010 3:01 PM CDT up reply actions

That's what I saw

Whenever J-Bo got the ball, he had a guy all over him.

Challenging him to beat them on the drive – good defensive strategy.

by Cheeseandcorn on Mar 19, 2010 3:02 PM CDT up reply actions

Not bad though..keeps things open for Leuer.

by wisco87 on Mar 19, 2010 3:05 PM CDT up reply actions

8-point lead isn't big

But it’s bigger than it looks given the score of the game.

Reality

If the Badgers can keep pace for a little while, it’s probably safe to assume Wofford won’t shoot 100% the whole second half.

He had the “crap I just lost it out of bounds” look before halfheartedly pointing it should be Wofford ball.

Well

I honestly had to turn it off, and take a quick cat nap at about the nine minute mark, and watched the last 3 minutes.

The week off rest clearly didn’t help our shooters, but hopefully this game will, or else we will have a 2007 ncaa tourney all over again.

only took 4 shots, and one three. very unusual, but give credit to Wofford’s D. Or maybe to our lack of offense…..i don’t know. Just a huge relief to get out of this game.
