Badger Bits: Alvarez reminded of '99 season

Happy Black Friday everybody! If you've already gone out early to shop for the holiday season, here are some Badger Bits to wake you up a bit more. If you were lazy like me, then here are some Badger Bits anyway.

So far, Wisconsin's 2010 football season reminds athletic director Barry Alvarez of when he coached the 1999 Badgers to a Rose Bowl berth. Alvarez says that there are several similarities between the two teams, especially that both squads were able to overcome early season losses.

"You start off with a loss early in the Big Ten season and then you're looking down the barrel at Ohio State and Iowa," Alvarez said this week, referring to the current team. "In '99 we lose the opening Big Ten game to Michigan and you're looking down the barrel at Ohio State the following week."

More Badger Bits after the jump!

Wow Gordon looks great in those highlight reels – 38 TDs is not bad for one season

2010 Badgers I think are actually better than that fine ’99 team. Deeper at RB and WR with very good kicker, return game, QB, and defense.

He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is

Gordon is VERY good

I’ve only seen him play once, but a friend of mine goes to almost every Bradford game and raves about him all the time.
