Badger Bits: Battle, Turner and Hummel could play for Bo Ryan this summer

Not a whole lot going on in the college football world today, but we got a few links for you.

First, I want to mention that Daniel Lyght, who covers Fresno State for the Fresno Bee, will be our guest Tuesday at 1 p.m. when we continue the 2009 Schedule Tour on The 5th Quarter Radio Show. Be sure to tune in!

On to the links:

  • Wisconsin's Ryan happy on international duty - Rivals.com
Here's a good list of the players who could be playing for Bo Ryan this summer: "Tryouts for the World University Games begin Tuesday and run through June 25 at Colorado Springs, Colo. Players who accepted tryout invitations are Oklahoma State swingman James Anderson, Penn State guard Talor Battle, Clemson forward Trevor Booker, Iowa State forward Craig Brackins, West Virginia forward Da'Sean Butler, Kansas guard Sherron Collins, Villanova guard Corey Fisher, Marquette forward Lazar Hayward, Purdue forward Robbie Hummel, Purdue forward JaJuan Johnson, USF guard Dominique Jones, Washington forward Quincy Pondexter, North Carolina forward Deon Thompson, Ohio State forward Evan Turner and Mississippi State center Jarvis Varnado." Hmm, what are the chances Battle, Hummel and Turner make the team? I'd say those chances are pretty good.
  • Remember Kim Royston?

The Bleacher Report gave Minnesota a No. 39 ranking in its preseason rankings and then went a little overboard when describing former Badger Kim Royston who will be eligible to play for the Gophers this season: "Royston, another former Cretin-Derham Hall star, is a Wisconsin transfer. He will be looked at as either an upgrade over Theret or a replacement for Brock. Royston, a junior, was a big contributor for the Badgers." A big contributor? Oh, you must be referring to the measly 14 tackles Royston had in 12 games during the 2007 season.

  • Three and out with Bill Nagy - UWBadgers.com
Just in case you want to know what Bill Nagy's favorite meal is...

  • MBB: Purdue at Wisconsin (1/27/09) will be replayed tonight on BTN at 6 CT
Not exactly a game we want to re-live, but it will be on nonetheless. For Keaton Nankivil fans, it's must see TV... remember his five threes?

  • Ticket renewals in the Big Ten - BadgerBeat.com
The Badgers actually fared well compared to the rest of the Big Ten.

  • Why Does Ohio State Get A Pass? - Black Shoe Diaries
BSD thinks the 2009 Ohio State Buckeyes and Terrelle Pryor are overrated.
