UW upset bid falls short
Just when it looked like the Badgers were going to pull off the big resume win it so badly needs, the Michigan State Spartans woke up and erased a 12-point deficit en route to a 61-50 win at the Breslin Center.
With 12:22 remaining, UW held a 41-29 lead after a Marcus Landry 3-pointer. But the Spartans closed the game on an incredible 32-9 run that resulted in a 23-point swing and a runaway win that keeps MSU one game ahead of Purdue in the Big Ten standings.
Wisconsin only managed five field goals in the second half and was held to just one field goal over a critical 10-minute period that shifted the entire game.
The loss drops UW to 8-7 in the Big Ten and 17-10 overall. The Badgers have a week to prepare for Michigan, which will travel to the Kohl Center next Sunday. The Wolverines fell to Iowa 70-60 in overtime this afternoon.

It would have been a hell of a win
I wasn’t expecting it, so I can’t say I’m disappointed. The scoring drought was bad, but what was awful was the rebound disadvantage; 34 to 18. When I picture the Spartans beating the Badgers, specifically back in 2000, it was because they got killed on the glass. The Badgers hadn’t gotten beaten on the glass since the start of the 5 game win streak against Illinois. I don’t mind losing, but getting killed on the glass always stings.
once the momentum turned, it was over. good game though
